View

Examine a directory/folder. View some of the directory/folder attributes: name, size, date when last updated etc.

To view folder attributes The appearance of the Windows Explorer contents window may be customized to display file and folder objects in four different views. The different views can be selected via the View drop down menu or by clicking on the Views button.

Window 7 - Click start - click my document or any other folder you wish to view - at the top right of the box - click the small icon and select your view - as below

Windows XP has less alternatives than 7 and the view selector is more to the left of the box - as below

Large icons Display all objects using large icons.
Small icons Display all objects using small icons.
List Display all files in list format split into multiple columns.
Details Display all files and associated file details such as name, size, type, and last accessed date in a single column, as illustrated.

To view folder properties The basic folder display, when using the Details, view looks as illustrated.
If you were to right click on one of the folder icons a popup menu would be displayed, as illustrated. Select Properties from this menu to display a dialog giving more detailed information about this folder.
