Word Processing Step One
Microsoft Word 2007 has many more control buttons than 2003, they are self explanatory when you hover over them with your mouse, the word 'file' was replaced with a round icon - top left - as below
OpenOffice Writer - below
Microsoft Word 2010 seems to have gone back to a more common style, the word 'file' is back again - as below
