Create a Presentation
Openoffice Impress - similar to microsoft power point
Create a new presentation.
Start openoffice impress as illustrated

Click Impress
This opens

Select from template as above

This then gives you a choice of backgrounds - select which on you prefer - as above

Select the transition effect - as above. This allows a nice effect as you change from one slide to another.

Give it a name and subject - as above

It then gives you a number of automatically built pages - leave all ticked

The presentation is now built and can be edited to suit your needs.You can choose to change any page by selecting your page on the left then applying any format on the right.

After editing all the pages try clicking the slideshow button - this opens the first slide in full screen mode - click on the slide to move on to the next one.
Microsoft Powerpoint is similar in use - please follow the instructions below -
To create a new presentation once PowerPoint is “up and running” Open the File menu and select New.· Select Blank Presentation from the dialog box. Click OK.

Choose an appropriate automatic slide layout format for individual slides e.g. title slide, organizational chart, chart and text, bulleted lists etc.
To select a slide layout - From the New Slide dialog box, select the required slide layout. In the example shown the Title Slide layout has been selected. Click on the OK button to confirm your slide layout selection.
To insert a new slide using the keyboard - If you are working in Normal or Slide View and wish to enter a title for a new slide, press Ctrl+Enter and you will automatically generate a new slide.
To insert a new slide using the mouse - Position the cursor within the presentation where you wish to insert the new slide and click on the New Slide icon.
